Comparison — vs HubFit

Coach Sheet vs HubFit: Tiered Pricing vs Flat

HubFit charges $39-799/month based on roster size, with churn-prevention machinery built in. Coach Sheet is $15 flat. Which retains coaches?

Verdict

HubFit's $39 entry tier is competitive at small roster sizes, but the bill scales aggressively past 50 clients ($209) and 100 clients ($799 for the Ultimate 1000). Coach Sheet stays at $15 forever. HubFit has more features per dollar at the entry tier; Coach Sheet has more relevant features per dollar at scale.

Where HubFit wins

  • 01 Free tier for 2 clients (vs our 1 client), slightly larger no-cost trial bucket
  • 02 Native iOS and Android branded apps available on Premium tiers
  • 03 Built-in challenges, leaderboards, and gamification (if your clients want that)
  • 04 Workout AI feature for trainers who use it (we don't ship one)

Where Coach Sheet wins

  • 01 $15 flat vs HubFit's tier escalation ($209 at 200 clients, $799 at 1000)
  • 02 Sheets-native workflow, your data lives in Drive, not HubFit's cloud
  • 03 Reddit mindshare check: HubFit appears in 7 coaching threads ever, Trainerize in 14 in one thread alone. Tells you who uses what
  • 04 No churn-prevention machinery (extend trial, free month, cancellation discount). We just keep the price honest
  • 05 Methodology-first vs HubFit's broad-platform approach

TL;DR

HubFit is a relatively young SaaS (Turkish startup originally branded Yabish, rebranded for Western markets). It claims 50,000 coaches, though Reddit mindshare suggests the real number is much lower — in our 138-post survey of r/personaltraining, HubFit was mentioned 7 times across all of Reddit history versus Trainerize’s 14 mentions in a single thread.

The product is feature-rich at the entry tier. The pricing escalates aggressively past 50 clients. And we found churn-prevention infrastructure inside their billing API (extend-trial, give-free-month, apply-discount-on-cancel) that suggests retention is an active fight. Coach Sheet competes on honesty and price stability instead of feature breadth and tier-management.

Pricing comparison

Note that HubFit has multiple tiers at 100 clients ($69, $119) depending on which feature bundle you want. We found this in their billing API directly. Working coaches in our DM interviews told us they found the tier matrix confusing.

Where HubFit is genuinely better

Free tier for 2 clients. Slightly more generous than our 1-client free tier. If you want to test a tool with two real clients before paying, HubFit gives you that bucket.

Native branded apps on Premium tiers. HubFit lets you put your own logo on iOS and Android apps that ship in the app stores. This is genuinely useful for established coaches building a brand. We don’t offer this; our PWA can be branded with your logo but won’t appear in app store search.

Workout AI. HubFit ships an “AI workout generator” feature. Some coaches use it (most of the ones we interviewed didn’t trust it for primary programming). If you actively want AI to draft mesocycles, HubFit has it; Coach Sheet doesn’t.

Gamification. Challenges, leaderboards, badges. If your coaching style relies on group competition mechanics, HubFit is built for it. We’ve explicitly chosen against gamification for methodology-driven coaches who find it gimmicky.

Bigger feature checklist. HubFit has 70+ features per our reverse-engineering of their JS bundle. We have 12 launch features. If feature count matters more to you than feature focus, HubFit wins on quantity.

Where Coach Sheet wins

Honest pricing. $15 forever, regardless of roster. HubFit’s tier system requires you to upgrade as your roster grows. We checked their cancellation API endpoints (/api/billing/churn/) and found extend-trial, give-free-month, and apply-discount endpoints. That’s a tool used to fight churn at the moment of cancellation; we’d rather price honestly upfront and not need it.

Reddit mindshare. This is a real signal, not a vanity metric. The pricing breakdown thread in r/personaltraining lists 14 platforms by name. HubFit isn’t on the list. The trainers discussing platform choices haven’t heard of it. If you care about word-of-mouth signal in your coaching community, that absence matters.

Sheets-native data ownership. HubFit’s data lives in their cloud. Cancel, lose access. We’ve covered this ground in the data ownership guide; the argument is identical here.

Methodology depth over feature breadth. Three-test PR protocol with confidence band. RPE table editable per athlete. Volume landmarks (MEV/MAV/MRV) configurable per muscle group. Macro ratios cells, not preset radio buttons. HubFit covers more surface area; we cover the methodology surface deeper.

No active churn machinery. This is a philosophical win. We’d rather you cancel cleanly when the tool stops working for you than nickel-and-dime you with a “stay” discount.

Trade-offs to think through

HubFit invested heavily in 2024-2025 in mobile apps, AI features, and gamification. If those matter to your coaching style, the comparison swings their way.

We invested in spreadsheet-native architecture and methodology depth. If those matter to your coaching style, ours swings.

When to choose which

Choose HubFit when:

  • You want a native branded mobile app
  • Your clients respond to challenges and leaderboards
  • You actively want AI workout generation
  • You’re at 2 clients and want a slightly larger free trial bucket

Choose Coach Sheet when:

  • Your roster is or will be 10+ clients
  • You care about Reddit-tested tools that actual working trainers use
  • Your data should live in your Drive
  • Your coaching is methodology-led, not feature-led
  • Pricing transparency matters to you

Migration

HubFit has a data export option. Run it, save the CSVs, then run the Coach Sheet onboarding wizard once per client (3 minutes each). For a 50-client roster, allow 4-6 hours for full migration including verification.
